Heritage Advisor
The main goal of the heritage advisory program is to assist the local community and council to identify, manage and conserve the heritage of the Inverell area with funding support from NSW Heritage Office.
The heritage advisory program commenced in Broken Hill in 1983, and currently about 90% of the 152 Councils in NSW have Heratige Advisors.
The Heritage Advisor for Inverell is Ian Kirk who has been visiting the area about once a month since July 2002. Appointments can be made with the Heritage Advisor through Council's Planning and Development Department on

Heritage Listing
A heritage listed building or building located within a Heritage Conservation Area does not necessarily mean that alterations cannot be made to a property. In assessing any proposed alterations of the property, Council will take into account the impact of the proposed change on the heritage significance values of the building item in addition to other planning controls.

Local Heritage Assistance Fund
In addition to free heritage advice, Council also has a Local Heritage Assistance fund which provides small grants to assist in heritage conservation works to Heritage Items and contributory buildings in Heritage Conservation Areas.
