Cemetery

Please visit Council's Administration Centre (144 Otho Street, Inverell) to submit cemetery applications. Your application will be given a preliminary check for correct completion and a receipt will be issued for the payment of relevant fee/s.

Please refer to the sections below for information relating to relevant applications.

Interment Application

To submit an Interment Application, the following is required:
  • A completed Public Cemetery Application Form (applicant's signature is required).
  • Appropriate fees are to be paid in full at the time the application is lodged.
  • A copy of the 'Medical Certificate of Cause of Death' from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry

Reservation of Land Application

To reserve land for Interment, the following is required:

  • A completed Public Cemetery Application Form for the 'Reservation' completed section (applicant's signature is required).
  • Appropriate fees are to be paid in full at the time the application is lodged.
  • A 'Right of Burial Certificate' will then be issued and forwarded to you by post. This certificate will state details of the reserved grave site, such as row and grave number.

Erection of Headstone

To apply for permission to erect a headstone, the following is required:

  • A completed Public Cemetery Application Form for the 'Memorial' section completed (applicant's signature is required).
  • Appropriate fees are to be paid in full at the time the application is lodged details of the headstone, such as size and the material the headstone is made of, need to be provided with the application.
  • Consent to erect a headstone will be issued in writing and forwarded to you by post.

Interment of Cremated Ashes

To submit an Interment of Cremated Ashes Application, the following is required:

  • A completed Interment of Cremated Ashes Application Form with 'Ashes/Memorial Information' section completed (applicant's signature is required).
  • The appropriate fees are to be paid in full at the time the application is lodged a copy of the 'Medical Certificate of Cause of Death' from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry is to be submitted with your application.

Reserve a Niche for Interment of Cremated Ashes

To reserve a niche for Interment of Cremated Ashes, the following is required:

  • A completed Interment of Cremated Ashes Application Form with the 'Reservation' section completed (applicant's signature is required).
  • Appropriate fees are to be paid in full at the time the application is lodged.
  • A 'Right of Burial Certificate' will then be issued and forwarded to you by post. This certificate will state details of the reserved niche, such as row and niche number.
